The Southeast Asian region is home to eleven National Societies that form part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies IFRC, contributing their strength, resources, and expertise to global itarian efforts.

Ger and Diversity: Addressing the specific needs of diverse groups in disaster situations.
Health: Emergency health care services during crises.
Migration and Displacement: Support for individuals who are displaced due to conflicts, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
School Safety: Enhancing safety protocols in educational institutions to protect students during emergencies.
Youth and Volunteering: Engaging young people as active participants in itarian responses and volunteer efforts.
In a significant step toward enhancing regional resilience, the IFRC entered into a partnership with ASEAN through a Memorandum of Understanding MOU on Strengthening Community Resilience in Southeast Asia. This agreement delineates areas for collaboration including disaster management, risk reduction, law and policy development, health services during emergencies, relief operations, and support for youth and volunteers.

South Asia Leadership Meeting scheduled for June 2019 in the Maldives
The partnership convene joint consultations annually, reflecting on activities conducted by both parties and exploring avenues for further collaboration. Since the signing of the MOU, a series of initiatives have been launched across Southeast Asia in line with the agreed framework.
ASEAN Engagement: H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, underscored the role of the IFRC in disaster management during a keynote speech at the 20th Southeast Asia Red Cross and Red Crescent Leaders Meeting.
Dialogue with ASEAN: An anticipated event planned for September 4th, 2024 in Bali, Indonesia, will facilitate discussions on strengthening partnerships between the IFRC, Southeast Asian National Societies, and ASEAN. This dialogue is a platform to evaluate past activities, set future priorities, and identify collaborative opportunities.
Dialogue Session: To explore synergies, assess achievements, and outline strategies for enhancing cooperation.
Learning Session: Sharing best practices, lessons learned from disaster management experiences, and exploring needs and forecasts in preparedness and response areas.
The IFRC has been actively collaborating with Southeast Asian National Societies to improve disaster readiness, conduct trnings, and conduct joint mapping exercises in accordance with the MOU. These collaborations m to build robust community resilience agnst emerging risks.
