Master of Disaster is an educational program med at empowering young people to learn about emergency preparedness. Specifically designed for students in grades 4 through 8, this initiative educates them on various hazards that may impact British Columbia-such as floods, wildfires, earthquakes, and tsunamis-and instructs them on how they can prepare accordingly.
The educational program is structured into two distinct kits for teachers and learners:

A comprehensive Teaching Guide that outlines curricular alignment, planning tips, and lesson execution strategies.
An interactive Grab-and-Go Bag Poster Game to introduce fun learning activities within your classroom environment.
Accessible Playing Cards for use with the poster game.
Components: For every learner in your classroom, order a student kit that comes equipped with:
A vibrant and educational Get Ready Guide Workbook, which includes instructions, activities, and games to facilitate learning on emergency preparedness.
A personalized Home Emergency Plan for them to complete alongside their household members at home.
An Embroidered Drawstring Bag to encourage them in starting their personal preparedness journey.

To complement the program materials, we recomm utilizing Ember the FireSmart fox as an engaging mascot that educates students on key aspects such as alertness, adaptability, intelligence, and community-mindedness regarding wildfire prevention through the principles of being fire smart. Additionally, explore the British Columbia hazard map to learn about regional hazards affecting various parts of the province.
